It records each student's current belt, stripes and progress toward the next rank on their profile. You set what each belt needs, and the software counts it from attendance and time at rank. Schools use it to see who is ready to grade, promote students and keep a full promotion history.
Martial Arts Belt Tracking Software
Know who is ready to grade without a spreadsheet. Set the requirements for each belt, and 1club tracks every student toward it, stripe by stripe.

Your belt system, set up your way
Start from a ready-made belt system or build your own, with belt colors, stripes or degrees in the order your school uses. Whether you teach BJJ, karate, taekwondo or another belt-based art, every student's rank follows that ladder.
- 01
Stripes and degrees between belts, each as its own step.
- 02
Separate tracks for each art or age group. A student who trains in two programs progresses on both, each with its own rank.
- 03
Choose which classes count toward each track, so a Muay Thai class does not move a student closer to their next BJJ stripe. Leave it open and every class counts.

See who is ready to grade
Set what each belt needs: a number of classes and a minimum time at the current rank. Every check-in counts toward the class requirement, and 1club tracks how long each student has held their rank. Before a grading, open the list of students who have met their requirements and invite them, without counting sign-in sheets.
- 01
Progress toward the next belt sits on each student's profile, next to their current belt.
- 02
Time at rank stops a student from grading too early, even if they train every day.
- 03
Students who are still short show exactly how far they have to go.

Promote a whole grading at once
After a grading, select everyone who passed and promote them in one step. Each student's profile records the new belt or stripe and the date, so their full history is there when you need it, for the next grading or a parent's question. Students can also get a message to say they have been promoted.
- 01
Bulk promotion for a full grading day.
- 02
Every past belt and stripe, with its date, kept on the profile.
- 03
A promotion message goes out to the student.

Progress students and parents can see
Students see their current belt and their progress toward the next one in the member portal or mobile app. Parents follow each child from one family account login. From a student's first trial class, attendance and belt progress build on the same profile, so everyone works from the same numbers you see.
- 01
Current belt and progress in the member portal and mobile app.
- 02
Parents follow every child from one login.
- 03
One profile from the first trial class onward.

show that tracking progress helps people reach their goals (Harkin et al., Psychological Bulletin, 2016)
What the research says about visible progress
No study has measured belt tracking itself. These two studies measure what belt tracking puts in front of students: progress they can see, toward a goal that is getting closer.
138 studies. Across 138 experiments with 19,951 people, helping people monitor their progress improved how often they reached their goals. The effect was larger when progress was physically recorded or shared with others. Source: Harkin et al., Psychological Bulletin, 2016. Method: meta-analysis of randomized experiments comparing a progress-monitoring intervention with a control group. Limit: goals across health and other areas, not martial arts students.
20%. Members of a café reward program cut the time between purchases by 20% on average as they got closer to their free coffee. Source: Kivetz, Urminsky and Zheng, Journal of Marketing Research, 2006. Method: 949 completed ten-stamp cards, about 10,000 purchases, at a university café in the US. Limit: coffee rewards, not belt gradings.
Illustration, not customer data. A kids' yellow belt needs 24 classes and 3 months at white belt. A student who trains twice a week reaches 24 classes in 12 weeks and meets both rules together. A student who trains once a week reaches 3 months with 13 classes, so they stay off the ready-to-grade list until class 24. On grading day you promote everyone who passed in one step, and each profile records the new belt and the date.

What to look for in martial arts belt tracking software
Whichever software you choose, check for these five things.
| What to look for | Why it matters | In 1club |
|---|---|---|
| Your own belt system, stripes included | Every school and every art ranks students differently | Ready-made or custom belt systems, with stripes or degrees as their own steps |
| Requirements beyond a class count | Time at rank stops students grading too early | A class count and a minimum time at rank for each belt |
| Control over which classes count | Training in one art should not move a student up in another | Choose the classes that count toward each track |
| Bulk promotion with full history | Grading day ends without a pile of updates, and records stay complete | Promote many students at once; every belt and date stays on the profile |
| Progress students and parents can see | The next belt stays in view between gradings | Member portal, mobile app and family accounts |
What is martial arts belt tracking software?
Martial arts belt tracking software records each student’s rank, stripes, and progress toward the next belt. With 1club, you set what each belt requires, such as a class count and time at the current rank, and the software tracks it automatically. It shows who is ready for a belt test or grading, lets you promote everyone who passed in one step, and keeps every promotion on record.
